PrayScroll

Privacy Policy

Effective July 2026

PrayScroll is built on a simple conviction: prayer is between you and God. We designed this app so that we learn as little about you as technically possible — no accounts, no names, no emails. Just prayer.

01 — About

Who We Are

PrayScroll is a prayer-gated app blocker for iOS and Android. We help you replace screen time with prayer time through guided daily journeys, community prayer, and AI-assisted intercessory prayer generation. PrayScroll is operated as an independent digital product. For any privacy matters, contact us at support@prayscroll.app.

This policy describes what information the app collects, how it is used, and what rights you have. If you have any doubt about what we do with data, the answer is nearly always: we don't collect it in the first place.

02 — Data

What Data We Collect

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any identifying information. Here is a complete picture of what is stored:

Data Type What It Is Collected?
Name or Email Any personal identifier Never
Anonymous User ID A random UUID generated on first install to link your prayers and streaks Yes
Prayer content Prayers you save or generate within the app (stored locally and in Supabase linked to your anonymous ID) Yes
Community prayer requests Optional first name + city you choose to share publicly on the Prayer Wall Optional
Journey progress & streaks Which 30-day journey track you are on and how far you have gone Yes
App usage / session recordings Screen interactions (taps, swipes, screen views) recorded via Microsoft Clarity to help us understand and fix onboarding friction. Sensitive fields (like the community wall's optional name/city inputs) are masked automatically and never captured. Yes
Install & attribution data Which channel led to your install, via AppsFlyer. Does not include screen content or in-app behaviour. Yes
Advertising identifier (IDFA / GAID) Used only for install attribution via AppsFlyer. On iOS, only collected if you grant App Tracking Transparency permission. Only with consent (iOS) / Yes (Android)
Device model / OS version Basic device and OS info used by Clarity and AppsFlyer for compatibility and fraud prevention — not used to build an individual profile of you across other apps or sites Yes
Push notification token A device identifier used only to deliver notifications, linked to your anonymous ID Only if notifications enabled
Location data GPS or precise location Never
Screen content What you type or view on your phone screen Never

Short version: PrayScroll stores a random anonymous ID, your in-app prayer activity, and your journey progress — plus anonymised screen-interaction recordings and install-attribution data used to improve the app (see Analytics & Attribution below). We still do not collect your name, email, or any identifying information, and we never will.

03 — Authentication

Anonymous Authentication Only

PrayScroll uses anonymous authentication exclusively. When you open the app for the first time, Supabase generates a random user ID on your device. No email, password, or social login is ever requested or accepted.

This means we have no way to link your app activity to a real-world identity — and that is by design. Your prayers belong to you and to God.

🔐

No Account Required

You never create a username, password, or profile. The app works immediately on first launch.

🎲

Random ID Only

A UUID is generated locally to remember your streaks and journey progress. It cannot be traced back to you.

🔗

No Cross-App Tracking

Your anonymous ID is never shared, sold, or combined with data from other apps or services.

04 — Community

Prayer Wall & Community Requests

PrayScroll includes a community prayer wall where users can share prayer requests for others to pray over. Participation in the prayer wall is entirely optional.

Prayer requests generated privately using the AI prayer feature are stored only in your anonymous account and are never displayed to other users.

05 — Permissions

App Blocking Permissions

To function as an app blocker, PrayScroll requires a system-level permission on each platform. These are sensitive permissions, and we want to be completely transparent about how we use them. On both platforms, the blocking works entirely on your device and no data about your app usage or screen content is ever collected or transmitted.

On iOS, PrayScroll uses Apple's Screen Time framework (Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity). You choose which of your own apps to block using Apple's standard app picker (FamilyActivityPicker). The list of apps you select is handled by iOS on your device and is never transmitted to us, stored on our servers, or shared with anyone — Apple's framework is designed so that even we cannot see which apps you block.

On Android, PrayScroll uses the Accessibility Service for one purpose only: to detect which app is currently in the foreground so that PrayScroll knows when to display the prayer gate. We do not read, record, log, or transmit any screen content, keystrokes, form inputs, passwords, or any other on-screen data. This detection happens locally and in real time to identify only the foreground app package name (for example, com.instagram.android).

You can revoke this permission at any time — on iOS in Settings under Screen Time, and on Android in your device's Accessibility Settings. Revoking it will disable the app-blocking functionality, but the rest of PrayScroll (prayers, journeys, community wall) will continue to work normally.

06 — Analytics

Analytics & Attribution

To understand where people get stuck during onboarding and to measure how users find PrayScroll, we use two additional tools: Microsoft Clarity for on-device session recording and AppsFlyer for install attribution. Neither tool is used to build an advertising profile of you, and neither has access to your prayer content, journey progress, or Prayer Wall submissions.

Microsoft Clarity records how you move through the app's screens — taps, swipes, and screen transitions — so we can see where onboarding is confusing. Clarity automatically masks text fields by default, so typed content (such as an optional name or city on the Prayer Wall) is not captured in recordings. Recordings are tied to a device-generated session ID, not your PrayScroll anonymous ID or any personal identifier.

AppsFlyer tells us which channel (App Store search, an ad, a referral, etc.) led to your install, so we can understand what's working. On iOS, AppsFlyer only receives your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) if you grant permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt — declining has no effect on app functionality. On Android, a device identifier (GAID) is used for the same purpose.

07 — Third Parties

Third-Party Services

PrayScroll uses a small number of carefully chosen third-party services. We share the minimum data necessary with each — and we never sell your data to any third party.

🗄️

Supabase

Our backend database and anonymous authentication provider. Data is stored on EU-based servers. Only your anonymous ID, prayer content, and journey progress are stored. Supabase Privacy Policy: supabase.com/privacy

🤖

DeepSeek AI

Used to generate intercessory prayer text. We send only the prayer topic or emotion you select — no personal data, no names, no identifiers. DeepSeek does not receive your anonymous ID. Privacy Policy: deepseek.com/privacy

💳

RevenueCat

Manages the app's subscription flow and purchase status. RevenueCat processes anonymised purchase and subscription data linked only to your anonymous ID. We do not pass your name, email, or other personal identifiers to RevenueCat. Privacy Policy: revenuecat.com/privacy

🔔

Push Notifications (Firebase & Expo)

We use Firebase Cloud Messaging and Expo push services solely to deliver notifications (such as prayer reminders and "someone prayed for you" alerts). A push token — a device identifier used only to route notifications — is linked to your anonymous ID. No message content or personal data is shared for advertising. Firebase Privacy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy

🎬

Microsoft Clarity

Records on-device session interactions (taps, swipes, screen views) to help us fix onboarding friction. Sensitive text fields are masked by default. See Analytics & Attribution above for details.

📊

AppsFlyer

Measures which channel led to your install so we can understand acquisition, not in-app behaviour. See Analytics & Attribution above for details.

We do not use advertising networks, social media SDKs, or any analytics platform to build a cross-app or cross-site profile of you. Clarity and AppsFlyer are used strictly for the limited purposes described in Analytics & Attribution above, and we never sell data to either.

08 — Notifications

Push Notifications

PrayScroll may request permission to send you push notifications for prayer reminders, streak alerts, and community prayer requests that match your journey track.

09 — Your Rights

Deleting Your Data

Because PrayScroll uses anonymous authentication, there is no account dashboard to log in to. Here is how to delete your data:

  1. Uninstall PrayScroll from your device. This deletes all locally stored data, including your anonymous user ID.
  2. Reinstalling the app creates a brand-new anonymous account with no connection to the previous one. Your old prayers, streaks, and journey progress are permanently gone.
  3. If you wish to request deletion of server-side data (prayer history, community wall posts) linked to a specific anonymous session before uninstalling, email us at support@prayscroll.app with the subject line "Data Deletion Request". We will process it within 30 days.

Practical note: Because we hold no email, name, or identifier, a deletion request via email is voluntary on your part — there is nothing to link it to you unless you share your anonymous ID from the app settings. Simply uninstalling the app and not reinstalling it has the same practical effect as full data deletion.

10 — Children

Children's Privacy

PrayScroll is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. Because we use anonymous authentication and collect no personal data, we have no mechanism to verify age. If you believe a child under 13 is using the app and you have concerns, please contact us at support@prayscroll.app.

11 — Updates

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, for material changes, post a notice within the app. Continued use of PrayScroll after a policy update constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

Our commitment will not change: we will always collect the minimum data necessary, never sell it, and keep your prayer life private.
